November 2009 17.30 Uhr, Markus Tschiedert Mit schweren Silberketten, Lederhandschuhen, schwarz lackierten Fingernägeln und einer 40 cm langen Irokesen-Mähne zieht Bill Kaulitz (20) sofort alle Blicke auf sich! Im Gespräch wirkt der Frontmann von Tokio Hotel allerdings wie ein ganz sympathischer Durchschnittsjunge. Starallüren also gleich Null! Das Bad in der Menge am Sonntag hat der Popstar am Potsdamer Platz dennoch genossen. Anlass war das neue Fantasy-Spektakel "Arthur 2", in dem Bill der Titelfigur wieder seine Stimme lieh. Zuvor traf ihn Markus Tschiedert zum Interview im Ritz Carlton.
Du sprichst zum zweiten Mal den Gnom Arthur. Magst du deine Sprechstimme?
Ich höre mich überhaupt nicht gern reden, sehe mir auch nie ein Interview mit mir an. An meinen Gesang habe ich mich allerdings gewöhnt, und da kann man mit der Tontechnik auch mehr kontrollieren. Beim Sprechen sagt man auch schon mal was, ohne darüber nachgedacht zu haben.
Arthur erlebt diesmal die erste Liebe. Wie sieht das bei dir aus?
Mir wird das wahrscheinlich nie passieren, und daran hat sich bisher nichts geändert. Ich hoffe nicht, dass ich damit Recht behalte, aber momentan ist das eine realistische Einschätzung. Wenn ich mir meine letzten fünf Jahre so ansehe, gibt es gar keine Chance, mich zu verlieben. Es gibt keiner Dates, und ich lerne auch niemanden normal kennen. Zu zwischenmenschlichen Kontakten kommt es einfach nicht.
Wie würde deine Traumperson aussehen?
Habe ich gar nicht so vor den Augen! Ich würde es bestimmt nicht an so etwas Äußerem wie Haarfarbe festmachen. Aber ich glaube an die Liebe auf den ersten Blick und würde es einfach wissen, wenn sie plötzlich vor mir stände. Natürlich hatte ich Freundinnen, aber nur bis zu meinem 15. Lebensjahr. Danach nicht mehr, was wirklich zu wenig ist für einen 20-Jährigen.
Millionen Mädchen schwärmen für dich. Wie hält man das permanente Gekreische überhaupt aus?
Bei Live-Konzerten kriegt man das gar nicht so sehr mit, weil man selber die Musik macht und Ohrhörer die Ohren einigermaßen schützen. Auf dem Roten Teppich jedoch kann es für mich gar nicht laut genug sein.
Kreischen Japanerinnen anders als deutsche Girls?
Nö, zumindest habe ich noch keinen Unterschied herausgehört! Überall kommt uns die gleiche Energie entgegen. Mein Albtraum wäre es, wenn die Fans nur applaudieren würden. Ich brauche diese Energien von den Fans, die all ihre Emotionen herauslassen. Das gibt mir den Kick.
Wie gelingt es dir im Privatleben, davon wieder herunterzukommen?
Also, so etwas wie ein Privatleben gibt es so gar nicht mehr. Da muss ich mir auch nichts vormachen. Deshalb gehe ich auch so gut wie nie auf die Straße, und wenn, dann sind immer Bodyguards dabei. Normalen Kontakt zu Leuten habe ich leider gar nicht, und ich würde mich schon eher als menschenscheu bezeichnen.

Das würde ich gern mal! Bei mir gibt es Leute, die alles besorgen, was in den ersten zwei Jahren noch ganz cool ist. Aber jetzt würde gern mal selbst entscheiden, womit ich meinen Kühlschrank fülle. In Amerika war ich mal nachts um 3 Uhr im Supermarkt, als alles leer war. Da ist mir erst mal aufgefallen, was es inzwischen alles so zum Kaufen gibt.

Da ich nur selten zu Hause bin, nur mit Standardsachen wie Brot und Belag. Beim Essen bin ich sehr unkompliziert und mag auch keine 5-Sterne-Restaurants. Ich esse am liebsten Pasta und Pizza. Mein Tiefkühlfach ist größer als mein Kühlschrank, da gibt es dann viel Tiefkühl-Pizza, die ich auftaue und in den Backofen werfe.

Auf jeden Fall! Wenn ich etwa zum Flughafen fahre, laufe ich auch anders herum, mit Mütze und Jogginganzug. Aber meine Fans erkennen mich an schon an meiner Nasenspitze.

Inzwischen ist das Routine: Mit Duschen und allem drum und dran etwa eine Stunde. Ich mache alles selber und habe ein großes Problem damit, andere an mich heran zu lassen. Sicherlich greife ich hier und da mal daneben, und wenn ich Fotos von vor drei Jahren sehe, denke ich auch, wie bist du da denn herumgelaufen. Aber es gibt nichts, wofür ich mich schäme, denn das habe ich in jenen Momenten empfunden, und das ist okay.
Wer ist dir am wichtigsten?
Meine Familie ist es, die mich auf dem Boden hält, und ohne meinen Zwillingsbruder Tom könnte ich keinen Tag überleben. Selbst wenn wir mal an einem Tag wie heute getrennt sind, telefonieren wir miteinander. Tom bin ja im Prinzip ich, wir beide fühlen uns ohne den anderen nicht vollständig und brauchen uns total.
Du wirst gern mit Michael Jackson verglichen. Fürchtest du manchmal, genauso zu enden?
Sein Tod war wirklich eine krasse Sache, und ich will da gar nicht so viel drüber sagen. Denn ich finde es ganz schlimm, wie sein Tod ausgeschlachtet wird. Auch ein Michael Jackson hat das Recht, in Ruhe gelassen zu werden, und dazu möchte ich ein bisschen beisteuern.

Ja, das war eine ganz automatische Entwicklung. Schon in der Schule bis ich anders herumgelaufen und habe schon mit elf Jahren angefangen, mir die Haare zu färben. Bald fing ich dann an, meine Augen zu schminken und die Nägel zu lackieren. Ich habe als Kind schon gern Vampirfilme geschaut, wahrscheinlich habe ich mich davon inspirieren lassen.
Apropos Vampir: Du bekommst gerade mächtig Konkurrenz von Robert Pattinson. Bist du ein Fan von "Twilight"?
Absolut! Dabei war ich am Anfang eher skeptisch, als plötzlich alle davon erzählten. Dann habe ich mir den ersten Film angesehen und fand ihn ganz toll.
Wie gehst du damit um, dass auch Jungs dich toll finden und es oft heißt, du wärst schwul?
Das ist eine Sache, die mich fast schon langweilt! Das passiert automatisch, und wie die Gesellschaft geprägt ist, liegt es ja auf der Hand, dass dann so etwas gemunkelt wird. Dass Jungs auf mich stehen, finde ich aber völlig okay. Warum auch nicht?

I don’t like to hear me talk at all, I don’t even watch my own interviews. However, I’m already used to my singing, and because of the Sound Technology you can also control it more. While speaking, one also says things without thinking about them.

I think it’ll never happen to me, and nothing changed regarding this topic. I hope I won’t be proved right with this, but at the moment it’s my realistic judgement. When I look back on the last five years, then there wasn’t a chance to fall in love. There are no dates and I can’t get to know somebody on a normal way. There simply is no interpersonal contact.

I can’t picture one! But I surely wouldn’t fasten that on something physical, like their hair color. But I believe in love at first sight, I would just know it when she would suddenly stand right in front of me. Sure, I had some girlfriends, but just ’til I turned 15. After that I didn’t, which is really not enough for a 20-year old.

At live concerts you don’t even notice it, because you make the music yourself and the earphones in your ears are somewhat protecting them. On the red carpet it can’t even be loud enough for me.

Nope, at least I couldn’t hear a difference! Everywhere we go, the same energy meets us. It would be my nightmare, when the Fans would just applaud. I need this energy from all the fans, who let out all their emotions. It gives me a kick.

Well, there’s no thing like a private life for me anymore. I don’t have to delude myself. That’s why I don’t go out that often, and if I do, I always have Bodyguards accompanying me. Unfortunetly, I don’t have normal contact with people, I would rather say that I’m afraid of people.

His death was a blatant thing and I don’t even want to talk too much about it. Because I think it’s aweful how his death is getting exploited. Michael Jackson also has the right to be left alone, and I want to contribute a little to this.

Yes, but that was an automatical developement. I was already running around differently at school and started dying my hear at the age of eleven. Shortly after that I started to wear make-up and painting my nails. I also loved to watch vampire movies as a kid, that’s probably where I got my inspiration from.

That’s a thing, which is almost boring me! It happens automatically, with the way that the society is shaped – it’s obvious that there are rumours about it. And I think it’s absolutely okay that boys think that I’m great. Why not?
